Guernsey Water is reminding Islanders with streams, douits and other watercourses on their land that by law they are required to clear them of weed, silt and other obstructions by the 15th June......

Guernsey Water is thanking islanders for their efforts to conserve water during the recent spell of unusually hot weather, after demand remained below last year’s peak levels despite soaring temperatures. 

According to the Met Office, temperatures reached 30.8°C yesterday, following several days of unseasonably warm and dry conditions. As expected, water use increased over the Bank Holiday weekend - but not to the levels seen in comparable heat last year. 

Guernsey Water Managing Director Steve Langlois said:

During the course of a routine media enquiry, the BBC shared a drone photo with us of the Fort George outfall. When we reviewed it, it was clear the outfall was not discharging as far out to sea as it should.

Guernsey Water has confirmed that all 14 of the island’s reservoirs are currently full, following a wetter‑than‑average start to the year.
