The Water Treatment Process

The process of taking precipitation and turning it into potable (drinkable) water that pours out of your tap is a complex one. When dealing with anything that is intended for human consumption, it is absolutely vital to ensure that the product is thoroughly treated and free of any contamination that might cause harm to humans.

Rainwater may appear to be clean but by the time it has absorbed dirt and dust from the air, run off buildings, down streets and across muddy fields it is far from pure. It also tends to be acidic, meaning that if untreated it would corrode metal pipework.

The diagram below demonstrates the water treatment process, which takes you through the steps of collecting rainfall, storing it, treating it, and distributing it to our customers.
