Guernsey Water to Carry out Sewer Flow Survey Work around Island

Guernsey Water will be carrying out flow surveys on a number of key sewers throughout the Island from 29th September.

The work, which will be carried out in conjunction with contractors RPS/Clear, will involve installing specialist monitoring equipment at 37 locations throughout the Island sewer network, specifically on those sewers that have strategic significance in terms of their position within the network and their level of through-flow.

The project will also include verification of other key assets around the Island.

Wastewater Network Extension to Start in Route du Longfrie

Guernsey Water is advising islanders that the next phase of its wastewater network extension programme will be commencing in the Route du Longfrie area of St Pierre du Bois from 29th September 2014.

The project to extend the public sewer will incorporate a number of roads in the area, and will take approximately 10 months to complete. Once completed, the extended sewer will allow up to 103 properties to connect.

Be Careful What You Put Down the Drain!

Guernsey Water is advising people to be careful what they put down the drain in order to avoid sewer blockages which could lead to sewage flooding.

An information flyer has been put together (click here) which demonstrates the problems that blocked sewers can cause, and advises what can safely be put down the drain.
