Increased levels of pesticide in island’s raw water supply causes concern

Following the recent detection of glyphosate in many of the island’s raw water supplies, Guernsey Water is working closely with the Office of Environmental Health & Pollution Regulation, the Health & Safety Executive and Commerce & Employment to promote the responsible use of herbicide treatments.

For many years Guernsey Water has sampled treated water supplies for traces of pesticides, and the levels detected have generally been well below the acceptable maximum for drinking water quality.
