Working Together in Guernsey to Prevent Flooding

In anticipation of high rainfall this winter, Guernsey Water has been working with States Works and Guernsey Roads to clear the Island’s surface water drainage, pipes, culverts and road gullies in known problem areas.

Since June 2014, approximately 35 - 40 tonnes of silt and vegetation have been recovered from 1km of pipes and culverts, using specialist drain clearing and jetting vehicles. Guernsey Water has also been working in conjunction with parish constables to ensure that the Island’s douits are clear by conducting regular inspections.
