2007, the States of Guernsey agreed that a new Wastewater Charge
should be levied for all Islanders in order to make more income
available to maintain and develop the sewerage network and fund
investigations into sewage treatment options.
This charge was created by the Public Services Dep=
artment.
However, it has been decided to utilise Guernsey Water's billing
system as it will be a more efficient way of dealing with payment=
s.
Therefore, Guernsey Water will be handling the processing of
wastewater bills once the charge is introduced in 2011.
The charge will apply to all households and busine=
ss
premises and will average approximately £150 per household per an=
num,
comprising:
A standing charge of £30 per annum
Additional char=
ges
relating to wastewater discharged (metered customers) or the TRP =
of
the property (unmetered customers)
A fixed fee of =
£50
per household/business in respect of sewage treatment investigati=
on
works
