Continued water and wastewater services assured by Guernsey Water
Guernsey Water is reassuring islanders that water supply and wastewater services will be maintained despite the impact of the current lockdown.
Steve Langlois, Guernsey Water's Managing Director, said: "As an operator of critical island infrastructure, we are well prepared for events such as this latest outbreak, and have activated our pandemic and business continuity plans. We are also working closely with Public Health to ensure we follow their guidance, so as to maintain services and at the same time ensure that our staff and customers are protected."
The utility is encouraging anyone with a concern over paying their bill to get in contact as soon as possible. However, if they can, islanders are being asked to send in non-urgent enquiries by email, to help the customer services team deal with priority calls.
It has also issued advice for customers during the current lockdown.
Bill payments: Guernsey Water is encouraging those with internet access to pay online (www.water.gg) or via Direct Debit (forms can be downloaded from the website). Payments can also be made over the phone by calling (01481) 239500, although Guernsey Water would like to stress that if you can't get through to pay your bill straight away, please don't worry, water supply will not be cut off. Furthermore, anyone with concerns with paying their bill can contact customer.service@water.gg.
Flushing: Guernsey Water would like to remind Islanders that only the Three Ps should be flushed, Pee, Poo and (toilet) Paper. No toilet paper alternatives should be flushed down the toilet, instead these should be disposed of in general refuse.
Home Visits: Guernsey Water is not undertaking home visits at this time.
Emergencies: Guernsey Water is still available 24 hours a day for emergencies by calling (01481) 239500.
