At Guernsey Water we are committed to safeguarding and preserving the privacy of our customers and complying with the Data Protection (Bailiwick of Guernsey) Law 2001. Your information is used to enable the billing of water services, provide contact details in emergency situations and enable communication with all our customers about issues relating to our business, such as newsletters and information about new services.

Data you provide allows us to ensure information we hold about you is kept up to date, to manage your accounts, to deal with any problems regarding your account, and enables analysis to help improve the operation of our business.

Your information is shared with our billing service provider to allow you to view your water bills online and with third party payment providers who process payments on our behalf.

Where there is a legal obligation to do so we may provide information to law enforcement bodies for the detection or prevention of criminal offences.

We do not share your information with any other parties for the purpose of advertising or distribution of information that is not related to Guernsey Water.

Your information is not shared outside of the European Economic Area.


We take the security of your personal data very seriously. We take appropriate organisational and technical measures to prevent unauthorised access to your information.

Sensitive personal data

Guernsey Water does not routinely collect sensitive personal data. In the rare circumstances that it is provided by you consent to the processing of this information for the purposes for which you have provided it. Retention of data

Guernsey Water will only retain your data for as long as is it needed. Data that is no longer relevant will be securely destroyed or deleted. Guernsey Water complies with the States Trading Asset Data Retention Policy which is available on request.

When you make a payment via credit or debit card these details are not held by Guernsey Water once the payment has been completed.
